4/25/11 Spring Break

I went to Naples Florida where my grandma lives on the beach. The best thing about my vacation was going jet skiing. The Gulf of Mexico was really ruff that day so it made jet skiing all the more fun. But on the Friday before I left for Florida, I went to go see insideous with Katelyn, Jenna, and Taylor. It was the scariest movie I had ever seen. I think the movie was very scary but, twords the end they tried to hard to make it scary, I mean a that bad guy licking the moms face, that's not scary, its just funny.

How will I Go Down In History?

I'm not sure how I will go down in history. I control over how I will be remembered, I think by the choices that I make, and the friends that I have. I

1. There were many causes to the civil war. The war wasn't fought over slavery but over freedom. I think the thing that really marked the start of the war is when the south seceded.
2.One battle in the civil war was the battle of Gettysburg. The union won this battle.
3.The person that I find very influential is Harriet Tubman. She risked her life to help others.

4/14/11 Historical Fiction Reflection

I think I managed my time well, during research, but currently I could be managing my time better but I'm unaware where to lead the story because I have no facts. I found writing to be the easy part, you really get to become the character. The difficult part for me has been Bibme, I did not like the idea of using the notes on bibme, I would much rather keep it in my one note, where its in the format and origination that works best for me. Another advantage to using one note would be that with one note, you can't lose all of you data, I know this is beyond our control but still, its happened to both me and Bianca.

And Now an interview with Elizabeth Johnson.

What made you decide to help Kinie escape?

She's my best friend, we grew up together. Why wouldn't I want her to be free! I knew it was the right thing to do, and when I heard about the underground railroad, it was possible.
Did the consequences ever cross your mind?

Did the consequences ever cross your mind?

Yes, I'd be lying if I said they didn't worry me. I was terrified, but I had to. What was my other option...there were no other options. I was scared to death. I knew my father would never change his ways. I prayed that he would never discover it was me who helped Kinie escape.

Did you have the escape planned out?

Yes, I had every little detail planned, because I knew that I could not get caught, it was illegal! Kinie had nothing to do with the planning, she didn't even know that I was ploting her escape. She had always talked about how much she wanted freedom so badly, and so did the rest of her family. They thought of me as a family member, and I thought of them as my family. They never wanted to leave a family member behind. So in my plan, I would escorte them one at a time to the first stop on the underground rail road. Night after night I would sneak one out.

4/11/11

Every spring break, since I was born, we go to Florida. My grandma has a condo on a privet beach called, bare foot beach. If you walk a little ways to the left of my grandmas place, there is a country club, where my grandma is a member. They have tennis courts, a pool, a hot tub, and pool side,m and beach side service. But if you walk down to the right of my grandmas, there is a restaurant called, Doc's. They have great breakfast and pizza. Doc's also have para-sailing, and jet skiing. My brother Jake and I always go para-sailing, and then our whole family goes jet skiing. My grandma lives in Naples, so there is a lot of shopping, but we also drive down to Everglade City, where they have air boat tours. On this tour they take you into the swamps on an air boat, they feed alligators, right next to you. When I was my family and I would go to florida for a month.

Journal 4/4/11 Dialogue

My characters are best friends. Abigale lives on a southern plantation. She has befriended one of her family's slaves, Kinie. The friendship is kept a secret from Abigale's parents. Abigale helps free Kinie, by sneaking her out to a house along the underground rail road one night.

Kinie wake up!
hmm? what?
Shhh stay quiet, I'm sneaking you out, now.
What if your parents wake up?
They already are awake, fathers patrolling the perimeter of the farm, but I know how were going to get out.
How can we? It's to risky, if your dad sees you... you know how mad he will, your not even supposed to talk to me! Whats your plan? We can never hop the fence, your father would see us.
Through the house, my father will never expect it, and mother is alseep. I left the back door unlocked, we will sneak through the fields around to the back, then we go inside. Once his in the front of the house, we run in. Then we wait until hes in the back of the house, then we exit through the front door, and we move north in the river. There's a safe house only a mile north.

4/1/11

I found it interesting that women were involved in every aspect of war. I knew that they were involved but I was unaware of how involved they were. I don't think this article will help me with my research because it didn't talk about children during the civil war. I liked the article though, I liked they way they had 10 individual facts and them supported them.
