Journal 3/30/11 Historical Fiction
I think that the perpose of my book "The Children's Civil War" is to teach how the war effected the children's lives. I am going to right my essay like a diary from a young child. I have not made the choice weather or not she will be from the north or the south, but her family will be split, and fight against each other.

I think that any thing can motivate someone. I couldn't say "people are motivated by money," because not all people are. Each person really has there own "want" or " desire. The people of the world cannot be grouped into one category for something such as this; we're all different and all come from a different life.
As much as our world would like to say, that we think of others before our self, not all do. Our world grows more and more selfish every day. We need to realize that this life is not about us, but about doing the best you can to help others. The most commonly repeated commandment throughout the Bible is "Love your neighbor as your self." God tells us over and over again in the Bible to love your neighbor as yourself, I think everyone should focus on helping others first.
When I really want something to happen, I'll ask once for it, then weight a little while and ask again, by this time my mom has normally said yes. If my mom does say no, I'll weight untill she is not around and go ask my dad.

I think there are times when fighting is necessary to reach the goal you desire. If there is something you want, but are capable of getting it, you must fight until you have it. To fight, such a strong word, but fighting doesn't have to be violent. To fight means any competition or struggle. A very powerful way of fighting is with words, weather its a fight with a bully or the fight for blacks rights- there will be strong words. I would fight for free choice of seats. I would fight for this because I think we are ready and can handle our selves, maybe the people causing trouble could have assigned seats but not the others. If I had to fight for something on a bigger level I'm not sure what I would fight for. I would though like to fight to be the best soccer player I can.

Free Will
Do you think every one has free will? Why or why not? How did you form your opinion?
I don't think everyone has free will. Our country is very fornicate that we strive for freedom, but others, not so much. Within our country there also are people that dont have free will. There life is determined by parents, peers, and location. Though if you fight for what you want, its always possible. People say that peer pressure can take away your freedom, your right to choose; I disagree, you selected them to be your peers, you asked for it. Parents can often keep us from freedom; always nagging, planing your future, and commanding you. They want you to be just like them, follow in there foot steps, and live through you. Personally I've learned this. My mom is always telling me to go practice soccer, to try harder. I play soccer because I love the game, and if I am able to play after high school, I'll be very happy. I don't want to be just like my mom, the high school gymnast.

Ruler of the school
If I was in charge of school, I would make many changes. Kids are always tired at school, so they should be given a day off. The school would not have school on Wednesday so the students would be well rested. I also think school needs to be fun in order for the students to apply themselves, I would make my classes real world based. In math classes they would learn what kind of math different jobs do. There would also be fun classes like photography. But most importantly, the school would need better food. Food is fuel for our students, m=our lunch ladies only make healthy and whole wheat food, but most of the students don't like that food, so they end up not eating at all, the wost possibility. Our school will have restaurants within the lunch room; on one wall there would be a cousins subs, a salad bar like there is now, only kids would get the option of fruit salad. On the other wall would be a Rosa's(Mexican restaurant chain in the great state of Texas), and also a bubbas. The lunch room idea might sound silly because they don't offer great nutrition, the one wall with cousins and the salad bar would also offer the normal hot lunch, this would be called the healthy side. Students will only be allowed to have the junk food side(rosa's and Bubba's) 2 days out of the 4 day week.
I think that the students would still be prepared for high school because they are still learning the same info just in a more creative and useful way, preparing them for the future.

Emily Ruiz
Emily was a 4 year old girl, with parents that were illegal immigrants from Guatemala. They sent Emily to Guatemala with her grandpa for the winter. On the way home, they were stopped because her grandpa is an illegal immigrant. She was then sent back to Guatemala with her grandfather. Her parents were given the option of Emily becoming property of the state of Virgina, or her returning with her grandfather.
I think this is a tough situation because Emily, born in the U.S. is a U.S. citizen, but her parents are not, making the situation awkward. The Ruiz's are mad because they want there daughter to live in America, but she would not be allowed to live with them because they will be sent back to Guatemala as well; she would be an orphan. I think they need to make the choice, Emily grows up in Guatemala with a family, or Emily grows up in the U.S. and is an orphan. They need to think about what is the best choice for there daughter, not what they want. I think to prevent future accidents like this, children born from illegal immigrants in the U.S. should not be citizens of the U.S. After the baby is born, the families should be deported.

Discussion
I think we had the right info and did a good job. Giving the discussion would have been easier and gone a lot smoother if the crowed was quiet, and replied in an ordered fashion. I think it went good, we stated our opinion, it diffidently could have gone better if the crowd had good replies and if they replied in an ordered fashion.

The laid Table:
From a far away glance you see happiness
From a far away glance I see sadness.
You see thanksgiving
I see a shattered holiday
From your eyes
Its glass
Set on table.
Ready for your holiday meal.
From my eyes
Its broken.
Its glass thrown about.
To you its simply a holiday.
In my eyes
It was a holiday yet to come,
But a holiday that never got the chance.
Through my eyes
It’s a fight.
A tragedy.
I see the fight.
The emotions go flying
Just like the glass.
The glass was their dreams.
Their emotions
And their hope.
But now look at it
Its gone.
Shattered.
Laid on the table for all to see.
For all to feel the pain.
The above poem was my reflection on the Laid Table by Beth Lipman from the Milwaukee art museum, I have made a few changes.

Equality
I do not think that man kind will ever truly be equal, this is because our world is competitive,we are always trying to one-up each other. There are different views of equality, equal in rights, receive equal respect, get paid equal money. When we think of being equal, we think of everyone being the same, but equality doesn't change our identity, but merely the amount of money, respect, or rights we receive. What would the world look like if we were equal? That is the question many ask. We hear the reply's, "we would all be the same." The answer "we would all be the same is incorrect, we can be equal without losing our identity. Might we all be in the same size house, but they don't have to look the same, we still are who we are, we still have a personality, no body said you cant be yourself.

Super Powers
If I could have any super power, it would be flight. I want to have the power to fly because it looks so fun. I would have a little super suit and cape made by Edna Mode from the Incredible's. But then again flying might be difficult so I would chose a power from the movie Push. The movie Push is about people that have very unique super powers, one type of power found in the movie is the power of push words into peoples heads, once you say something, they believe it. These people are called Pusher, they can push thoughts, change the way they think.
